Rotational moulding used for other products

Throughout this section tecni-form have illustrated the use of rotationally moulded plastic components in various market sectors using examples of existing tecni-form products. However the versatility of the process means that there are many other applications and areas of industry where rotational moulding has not yet been evaluated and exploited by designers.

Technological advances and their design implications

There are continual developments in processing, materials, and finishes which many designers are unaware of: this means that in the past rotational moulding was not considered a suitable process for creating parts that are now possible. For example, it is acknowledged that it has been almost impossible to apply a hard-wearing paint finish to polyethylene: however tecni-form have been instrumental in developing a primer which now makes this possible, and polythylene parts can now be painted to the same standards as other components.

Keeping abreast of - and initiating - advances in plastics technologies means that tecni-form can advise on where rotational moulding is capable of producing the finished component required. They are happy to work with designers on all projects and to develop novel solutions for many new application areas, and have collected some specific information that may be of help to designers in their Designing for Rotational Moulding section.
